South African gold prospectors brooch. The centrepiece is a 1897 South African Half Pond gold coin, made of 22-carat gold and weighing 3.99 grams. The brooch also includes a shovel and pickaxe mount crafted from 9-carat gold, adorned with gold nuggets at the point where they cross, contributing an additional 2.5 grams of 9-carat gold.
